Food and Clothing Free of Charge to All Who Walk Through Our Doors

About Harvest Compassion Center Chandler

Harvest Compassion Center Chandler is a local food bank that serves the families in the East Valley. The goal of the Harvest Compassion Center is to show the love of Jesus to our community by providing for the practical essentials of those families in our community that are in need.

The HCCC strives to be more than just a local food bank. It is set up like a store, where guests are able to shop and choose their desired food, hygiene products, and as of January 6, 2018, clothing all FREE of charge. We are open to the general public and provide service to anyone living in Arizona on Mondays from 9:00 – 11:30 AM and Saturdays from 2:00 – 4:30 PM.

Bob and Gaye Swaback started the Harvest Compassion Center in 2004 in memory of their son, Mitch. They have sacrificially given to and served the Phoenix community ever since. Read Mitch’s story HERE.

When Pastor Adam Bailie moved to the Phoenix area to plant Harvest East Valley, he met Bob and Gaye Swaback, and saw how they were serving their community, he began to dream of opening a similar compassion center in the East Valley. Through the generous gift from a philanthropist in the East Valley, we are pleased to have opened the Harvest Compassion Center Chandler in March, 2016.

Who's Hungry

In Arizona, 1 in 4 children and 1 in 5 adults are hungry. Arizona ranks 13th worst in the country in food hardship rate with 19.2% of Arizonians not having enough money to provide food for their family throughout the year. The national food hardship rate is 17.2%.

Feeding America released in August 2014 a nationwide Hunger in America report that concluded that approximately 1.1 million Arizonians struggle with hunger and poverty within our state borders. Did you know 3 out 5 kids living in Arizona qualify for free or reduced lunch at school? Or that 20% of food bank guests are seniors? And over 1 million Arizonians receive SNAP benefits!
